Yes, exactly! I was just about to comment something about this. How the author defines the term “pick me girl” is definitely unfortunate because it’s strayed away from its original meaning. I guess more and more people have adopted the term and this it’s evolved to something much different. I don’t think the original definition is harmful as it calls attention to misogynistic behavior and attitudes that a lot of women internalize until they have awareness of the patriarchal systems that influence them. I mean, obviously unless it’s “pick me bitch”, which I don’t care for at all.
