This is so powerful. I often think about smaller communities, as I just moved to one in Wyoming and the vibe is not so empathetic or trauma informed. But when I spoke out about my truth as a survivor, I was living in a bigger city, so I fortunately did have a lot of support.

However, there was still backlash. I relate to your words in many ways. #metoo doesn’t guarantee that the people around you will act as supportive as your friends on the internet. It also doesn’t tell you about how your words can be twisted as defamation or slander.

There are so many flaws in the movement but I totally agree with you about the benefit. It changed so much for survivors. And I have hope that it can progress into something even better.
