I’ve never use claps as an actual gauge of “quality” because of how the algorithm makes no sense. There are certain articles that are fantastic and only get 100 claps simply because barely anyone saw it. Then there are the usual popular/hyped up writers who always get 1000+claps no matter what they write, even if it’s super basic. It’s just the way of the app.
Idk it seems a bit elitist to have this point of view, especially if you’re aware of how this algorithm doesn’t work very well and that readers usually select material based on claps.
So honestly if you care about supporting writers, just do the 50. Why not?
If not, and you actually think writers are looking at the specific amount of claps each individual is giving in order to gauge how good they thought it was (lol), don’t.
If you have specific criticism or remark about something someone wrote, leave a comment about it. That’s how a writer can receive your feedback. Not 30/50 claps.
Thanks for sharing an interesting point of view.
