I’m disturbed by how many ignorant and flat out disrespectful comments you’ve received by people (who’ve probably never been in the shoes of an actual survivor) to define rape. “it’s not rape, rape has to be violent” aka outdated cultural perceptions of rape. Shame on all of you for invalidating the experiences of many survivors who did not recognize that they were raped because they weren’t hit or held down. I’m so sorry about your experience and I definitely consider it to be rape. This is extremely well written and includes so many significant points. We need to include the nuances of sexual violence in our discussions, it’s not just a stranger in the dark alley anymore! That being said, I respectfully recommend placing a trigger warning on this one due to the comments you received.
